报告摘要
Abstract
When considering the assessment of existing concrete structures, a commonly applied consistent and easy-to-use safety approach is currently still lacking in practice. As such, within fib (International Federation for Structural Concrete) proposals for the quantification of adjusted partial factors for the assessment of existing structures have been developed since 2010. In the recently published new fib Model Code 2020 a harmonized proposal with respect to partial factors for design and assessment has been developed, taking basis in the framework developed in fib Bulletin 80. This simplified approach enables a reliability-based verification of existing concrete structures through a semi-probabilistic methodology similar as for the design of new structures. The approach is very accessible to practitioners through a consistent set of equations and tabulated values for the determination of partial factors for the design of new structures as well as the assessment of existing structures. The basis for these proposals are briefly explained, the proposed approaches are summarized and a validation is provided through a full-probabilistic analysis in order to assess the accuracy of the proposal with respect to reaching chosen target reliability levels for new and existing structures under several loading conditions.

Speaker Bio
Robby Caspeele is professor in the field of Structural Reliability at Ghent University (UGent) since 2013 and one of the technical directors of the Magnel-Vandepitte Laboratory for Structural Engineering and Building Materials. He received his MSc degree in Civil Engineering in 2006 and his PhD in Civil Engineering in 2010. His main areas of expertise relate to full-probabilistic and semi-probabilistic structural reliability analysis and risk management of structures, structural robustness, analysis of concrete and steel structures, assessment of existing structures, production and conformity control, numerical simulation techniques and large-scale testing. He is author of more than 75 publications in peer-reviewed journals and over 200 papers in international scientific conference proceedings. He is also strongly involved in international committees and working groups related to the development of technical guidelines and standards. Among others, he is a board member of the Joint Committee on Structural Safety, co-convenor of fib Commission 3 on existing structures and chair of the Belgian mirror committee for the Eurocodes.
